When can I trust an email message?

Before you act upon an email that seems to come from a friend, you must realize the message might only look like it comes from your friend.  That might not be the case.  Your friend's email might have been hacked.  The message might be malicious.

Be safe.  Answer these questions before you act on something in the message:

  1. Is there anything in the message that is specific to the sender?

  2. Is there anything in the message that is specific to you?

  3. Are there words or subjects in the message that are common to you both?

If the answers  are "No" then treat the message with extreme caution!  It's probably a malicious trick!
